Welcome to the Afterlife Grind

Grave Endeavors is a clicker game where you play as a freshly deceased entrepreneur trying to build a business empire in the underworld. Because apparently even death can't save you from capitalism.

Click to dig graves, harvest ectoplasm, and recruit a workforce of ghosts who honestly have better things to do but can't afford rent in the afterlife. Turns out the cost of living is nothing compared to the cost of dying.

Rated E for "Everyone who has ever questioned their life choices."

Ghost Employees

Hire spectral workers who automate your grave-digging empire. They work for free because they're dead. HR says this is "fine."

Underworld Upgrades

Build crypts, mausoleums, and a suspiciously nice break room. Upgrade your operation from "sad hole in the ground" to "dystopian cemetery conglomerate."

Soul Currency

Collect souls to buy upgrades. Don't ask where the souls come from. We asked once and the lead dev just stared at us for 45 seconds.

Lore (Yes, There's Lore)

In the year 2087, the afterlife ran out of space. Turns out centuries of poor cemetery planning caught up with the spirit realm. The Grim Reaper, overwhelmed and underpaid, outsourced grave management to the private sector. That's where you come in.

You are Employee #4,927 at GraveCorp™, a startup that promised to "disrupt death." Your job? Click stuff until the problem goes away. It won't, but that's never stopped a startup before.

Our narrative designer quit halfway through writing this. We think it adds to the charm.

Development Status

Grave Endeavors is currently in active development, which means we've committed to a GitHub repo and occasionally remember it exists. Here's where we're at:

  • Core clicking mechanic: Done. It was actually the easy part. Who knew?
  • Upgrade system: In progress. Currently there are 3 upgrades and one of them just changes the cursor to a shovel emoji.
  • Ghost AI: "AI" is generous. They wander around and sometimes dig. We call it "emergent gameplay."
  • Sound effects: We have one sound. It's a shovel hitting dirt. It plays for everything. Boss defeated? Shovel sound. Achievement unlocked? Shovel sound.
  • Save system: Saves to localStorage, which means clearing your browser cache is basically permadeath.

Expected release date: When it's ready. So probably never.
